About the Column

Back in the old days, it was actually possible to visit every site on the Internet about Disney. Nowadays, it's not even possible to count all the sites on the Internet about Disney. I visit quite a few of them compiling the Hullabaloo, and often I find gems - digitally buried treasure - maintained by folks who love Disney so much it doesn't matter that the traffic to their sites may be a trickle. In Daily DIZcovery, I'll pick a different dynamite Disney site every day, typically one you've never heard about, and hopefully turn their trickle into a torrent.

Disneyland Maps

A useful site badly in need of new cartography

I love a good map.

In most situations, I need a good map. Without one, I get lost easily, and of course my rugged, manly nature prevents me from asking others for directions.

Even at Disney World, where I've walked every patch of asphalt numerous times, I can get discombobulated. In Tomorrowland, occasionally, and at Hollywood Studios, particularly.

You'd think in Disneyland, a smaller park, folks wouldn't be in such dire need of maps, but over the years Disney has churned out lots of Disneyland maps, many of them drawn by Disney Legend Sam McKin.

Nowadays, these maps are collector's items.

The well-named site Disneyland Maps is a stab at organizing old Disneyland maps.

The site, unfortunately, hasn't been updated in years, but it still has some nice pictures of collectible maps and a useful article on how to valuate them, where to buy them, and where to sell them.

If Disneyland maps are your thing, this is a good place to start.

By the way, an older, slightly different, possibly still useful version of this site can be found here: http://www.mousemaps.com.
