It Came from Disney!

About the Column

If Disney piled all its themed merchandise in one place, it would likely reach to infinity - and beyond. You see it everywhere: at the parks, online, in your neighbor's house. And you're tempted, sorely tempted, to make it yours: not always because you need it but because it came from Disney. For many people, that means irresistible. But fight the urge, just for a moment, until you've read what Jessica Clawson thinks about that irresistible piece of Disneyana. Chances are, she has already succumbed to the urge - and now, temporarily recovered, wants to tell you whether it was worth it.

Mickey Camera Straps

Can one put too much Mickey on oneself? No. It has been proven impossible. By experts! The average human body has ample room for Mickey ears, Mickey shirts, Mickey shoes, Mickey hats, Mickey sunglasses, and according to Jessica Clawson, Mickey camera straps, too.

In case you haven't been able to tell yet, I am the kind of person who shows off my love for Disney in any way possible: on my clothing, my shoes, my purse, my hat, even my camera strap!

You Know It's Made by Disney!

I use a Mickey Parts Camera Strap that I bought last August in the Animal Kingdom, though I'm sure it can be found in stores throughout Disney World.

The strap features Mickey's gloves, pants, shoes, and ears. About 10.5 inches, with an adjustable black segment that adds an extra 4 to 8 inches in either side, it attaches to the camera with a thin, but strong, 2 inch long wire. The main part of the strap is about 3/4 of an inch wide.

We use a similar, slightly wider version of this strap for our older camcorder. We bought it years ago, and I'm not sure if they still sell that one in the parks, though I have seen it on eBay.

Minus some dinginess from general use (I use my camera A LOT), the strap has held strong against all my abuse.

When necessary, the strap adjusts just fine, and I've not had a single problem with the wire coming off of the camera.

I'm not the only one who uses these straps, either. My sister and mother both have them on their cameras

It doesn't matter whether you own a heavy camcorder or a small palm-sized camera, the Mickey strap will do the job and show off your Disney style!

Next time you're at Disney World, shop for your own strap, or procure one in advance by searching for 'mickey parts camera strap' on eBay or by purchasing it directly at the LaughingPlace store.
