Got a Boo Boo? Get a Mickey!

With Chris Taylor on vacation, I'm hijacking his column to share some prophylactics. Easy, there! The prophylactics in question have Mickey's picture on them. EASY, there! I'm referring, of course, to my box of Mickey Mouse band-aids...

Is there a more heart-breaking sight than your child running up to you, face awash in tears, finger gripped tightly to show you the tiniest of cuts or scrapes?

It's not the size of the boo-boo. It's the blood. Even a drop, a trickle, is enough to send most kids over the edge.

The best thing to do about such boo-boos is to wash them out, apply a dab of Neosporin, and then cover with a band-aid. But please, not one of those ugly, boring tan things. You want to turn a frown upside down!

For that, you must use a Mickey Mouse band-aid.

You can get a black box of 20 Mickey-themed band-aids most anywhere band-aids are sold, though I picked up mine at Wal-Mart as I was walking through the store in the hope that the folks who run the People of Wal-Mart site would notice me. (No such luck.)

The box contains 20 assorted band-aids. They come in two sizes, both very small.

The artwork on the band-aids tells a story. There are three separate 'scenes'. In one scene, Mickey is grinning as if he caught a glimpse of Daisy Duck wearing Daisy Dukes. In another scene, Minnie is slapping Mickey. And in the third scene, Minnie is kissing Mickey.

A happy ending! And by the time your kid processes the implications, he'll have forgotten all about his boo boo.

Thanks, Mickey!
