Perfect Polynesian Resort Pool
Every Disney picture tells a Disney story, don't it, and today our perfect picture comes from Ralph, who waited for just the right moment to take this magical shot of the normally busy Nanea Volcano Pool at Disney's Polynesian Resort.
I've stayed at the Polynesian Resort many times. My first visit was back in 1973, or thereabouts, with my parents, who weren't pool people.
In 2001, Disney rid itself of the original Polynesian pool and replaced it with the beautiful, evocative Nanea Volcano Pool.
When my kids saw that pool, they were hooked. We've been to it in the day and at night.
Approaching it, you can hear the children's screams even before you smell the chlorine. The sight of so many kids in so many shapes and sizes, with their parents standing or sitting or reclining in various states of stupor, takes away much of the magic.
You know you're not in Polynesia when a boy the size of a small beer keg yells over and over to his mother that she's an idiot for coming here - and for not packing his Gameboy!
Ralph restores the magic with this shot of the Nanea Volcano Pool at night, deserted:
