About the Column
Entering Disney World, especially for the first time, is like stepping foot in a foreign land. You have not months, not weeks, not even days to learn the geography, the culture, even the language. Next to your park pass, the most important thing to have in lieu of a local guide is park pointers: helpful, topical, practical advice about how to make the most of your temporary residence at Disney World. Amanda Sykora has been visiting Disney World for over thirty years, and as the Pink Ear Pixie, she dispenses practical pointers to enhance your experience and magnify your magic.

Roberta Rack-Rate puts tech into trip planning
Amanda Sykora, the regular author of this column, is taking care of other pink pixie business this week, and so welcome our erstwhile substitute, Roberta Rack-Rate.
Trips cost trees.
By that I mean trips require lots of paper. In dealing with Disney or with a travel agent, you typically keep track of your vacation with an expanding pile of paperwork that either you've printed yourself or have pulled out of your mailbox.
Wouldn't it be nicer to have everything on a single (web!) page?
Some Disney Travel Specialists (like Amanda Sykora of Pink Ear Pixie) make that possible.
When you book your Disney vacation with these folks, they set up a private webpage where you can retrieve the information essential to your trip and where you can even plan what you wish to do on that trip.
Here's how Amanda Sykora describes her process:
"Each of my clients has their own personal web page that lists their reservation information and their itinerary with dining reservations. Whether they are a Disney Cruise Line traveler or a Disney World traveler, they will receive log-in information for their password protected page. Within the page there will also be a payment submission form and I've just begun adding a general contact form within each page as well. My clients seem to appreciate their own personal space and most of them visit their pages regularly. It's a nice reminder that their vacation is coming soon!"
Nice, eh?
Sure, you'll probably end up printing your personalized webpage, but that's between you and Mother Earth. At least you'll only have to print it once, right before you leave, instead of manually compiling everything or stuffing a stack of sheets in your purse.
Remember to ask your travel agent about personalized web pages!
Need more pointers? Come back next week, or get in touch with Amanda herself at her travel agency, Pixie and Pirate Destinations, where she'll answer all your questions, book your next trip, and possibly sprinkle a bit of (pink) pixie dust on your tickets!
