About the Column

The real action in Vinylmation these days is creating your own. Disney sells blank Vinylmations for you to craft into virtually anyone or anything. Thousands of these custom creations exist. Some are, well, it's best not to say what they are, but many are outstanding: often as good as what you can buy from Disney. We're rounding up the best custom Vinylmations and presenting them here, three times each week, with a word or two of commentary from their designers.

A Vinylmation Snowman on a Tree

I just can't kick this Christmas kick.

A few days ago, I presented a custom Vinylmation of the Grinch.

Now it's a snowman. In February.

Unlike the nasty Grinch, this snowman doesn't want to steal your presents or snare your soul. It seems happy knowing it'll never melt - until the Grinch finds it and breaks out a blowtorch.

And check out its hat. Impeccable fashion sense.

Why did Jeff Heimbuch create a Vinylmation snowman? For a very good reason:

"I wanted to do something creative for my Mom for Christmas. She decorates the tree strictly with snowmen every year, but I thought buying an ornament wouldn't mean as much. Besides, I always wanted to create my own vinyl, so I thought this was the perfect opportunity. I did a basic design on a template on the computer, and then used regular Sharpies to decorate it (which I know is a big no-no, but it worked well!). I added some floral wire so it could be hung from the tree, and voila! Instant Christmas gift!"

Are we done now with Christmas? Can we move on? Maybe to Disney customs?

Sure, Scrooge. Let's do that.

Come back on Tuesday for another Vinylmation My Way custom.
