Disney's Portobello Debuts Beer Dessert

Take beer, add whipped cream, get ... sick?

Maybe you think you've tried every dessert in the world.

Maybe you think the desserts at Disney World often lack creativity or substitute another 'c' word - chocolate - for creative.

Michelle Snow, writing for Uptake, proves you wrong.

Recently, Michelle had a Biramisu at Portobello in Downtown Disney.

The biramisu was invented as a whimsical dessert by Top Chef Tony Mantuano and added to Portobello's dessert menu by protege, Steven Richard, the restaurant's executive chef.

I think you know where this is going. The 'bira' in the Biramisu is beer, a dark porter with hints of dark chocolate and coffee. Into the beer go mascarpone cheese, Confectioner's sugar, and Ladyfinger biscuits, and then for a real 'head' there's whipped cream on top.

Michelle loves it!

Me, I love beer, but I'd have to drink a lot of it before I put whipped cream on top.

Maybe the Biramisu will educate me into new vistas of beer-dom.

From the description, I can't say I'm anxious to try it - but like a car wreck, once I get there, I won't be able to look away.

Don't stop there! More Tidings Await...
